Our small rural church school serves the Parish of Lathom and surrounding areas, including Skelmersdale and Burscough. We have close links with Lathom Park Chapel and Ormskirk Parish Church. Please explore our site and if you would like to visit us you will find a warm, friendly welcome.

Opening of our Faith Garden 12th July 2019

The Mayor of West Lancashire Councillor Gaynor Owen, officially opened our schools new Faith Garden, accompanied by Rev. Pauline Bicknell and Local Councillor Eddie Pope and a photographer from the Champion newspaper, who took photos of the event.

Thank you to the parents, who attended the event and the PTFA members who helped with refreshments. The children’s behaviour was as usual excellent for both events.

Lathom Park Remount Depot Memorial July 12th 2019

On Friday 12th July the children took part in the Lathom Park Remount Depot Memorial ceremony. The children’s fantastic singing and beautifully read poetry was appreciated by parents, staff and dignitaries and guests included the Mayor of West Lancs and the Bishop of Carlisle. The Junior children were also invited to visit the display in the Scout Hut (opposite School), of War Horse history and the part that Lathom played in it. Thank you to Local Councillor Eddie Pope who presented the school with a copy of 'Horses For The War' which outlines the fascinating story of the World War 1 Remount Depot at Lathom Park, Lathom, Lancashire.

23rd July - Film Club Movie:  The Curse of Chesscallibur: Endgame

Premieres’ on Tuesday 23rd July at 9 am, parents/carers are welcome, expected movie finish time 9:45 am. If you wish to purchase the DVD, the cost will be £5.00, please contact the school office.

23rd July - School closes at 1 pm for Summer Break and re-opens again on Wednesday 4th September at 8:45 am

Burscough Scarecrow Festival July 2019

Scarecrows that the children and the PTFA made for the Burscough Scarecrow Festival at the weekend (6th & 7th July) are on display in school.

Baby Owls development May-July 2019

|

Mrs Melham and her daughter kindly brought into school two owls for the children to see their development, from when they were a few weeks old until they were fully grown, taking in total 12 weeks. Sally explained to the children the care and equipment looking after birds of prey involved.

The children (and staff) were fasinated to be able to get up close to such amazing birds of prey and all the children who wanted to got to stroke an owl.

Thank you Sally and Katie for taking the time to show these beautiful birds to the pupils at Lathom Park.

WLSP Triathlon Event

On Friday 28th June the Junior children all had a great time at Park Pool, Ormskirk, their behaviour, as usual, was very good. The best report written by one of our School Sport Reporters will appear on the school website and our Triathlon Participants all tried really hard and showed fantastic team spirit. making our school proud, Well Done !!

Sports Day 2019

What a fanastic day the children and parents/grandparents/carers had, the weather was lovely, compared to last week, and the activities ran smoothly.

A big thank you to Mr O'Toole and Mr Cook for organising the event and to all the staff for their enthusiasm and encouragement to the children, making the day a success for all.

Fairytale Hairdressers KS1

Princess Isabella and her friend Kittie Lacey came to see the children today (Tuesday 18th June). The children sent Princess Isabella and her hairdresser friend Kittie letters inviting her to visit the school and of course she accepted their invitation, the children loved seeing her and would like to thank her and Kittie for visiting.

Sports Week 10th June - 14th June 2019

Despite the wet weather, the children had a great week of Sporting activities, managing to complete most of them.

Divine Dance Group worked with the children Thursday afternoon, all the children enjoyed the workshop and the performance at the end of the day was wonderful.

The football tournament will be held next week and of course Sports Day has had to be postponed and will now be held next Friday (21st June), starting earlier at 1:00 pm. Children are to come to school on this day, dressed in their PE kit with their team t-shirt, ready for Sports Day.

Please could parents/carers/grandparents park at the Scout Hut (opposite school), to avoid any problems, thank you.

Bellway Homes - Lathom Pastures Trip 23rd May 2019

|

The children visited the Bellway Homes site at Lathom Pastures on Thursday 23th May, all the children had a lovely time and learnt some interesting facts about building houses, as usual, the children's behaviour was excellent. Thank you to all the lovely staff that we met on site.

Pupils Achievement - May 2019

A child from our Reception class, was invited to attend a Manchester City Youth Academy coaching session, what a fantastic opportunity! Well Done 

WLSP Year 3/4 Cross Country Event 16th May 2019

|

On Thursday 16th our Junior pupils competed in the WLSP Year 3/4 Cross Country Event at Abbey Fields in Burscough. Congratulations to them for taking part in the Event, against some strong competition from larger schools.

Well done to all of them, their determination to complete the course, to the best of their ability, made our school proud!

Gisburn Forest - Activities and Zog Trail 9th May 2019

Reception, Year 1 & Year 2 had a lovely time at Gisburn Forest on Thursday, their behaviour was excellent and they found Zog at the end of the trail!

WLSP Year 5&6 Cross Country Event 2nd May 2019

Our Year 6 pupil took part in the WLSP Cross Country Event at Abbey Field in Burscough on Thursday the 2nd May, he was courageous and a credit to the school, well done !

KS1 Boccia & Kurling Event 29th April 2019

|

Evan, Zac, Ernest and Blake represented the school in the WLSP Boccia/Kurling Event at Burscough Sports Centre on Monday 29th April, they all did really well and were a credit to the school, Well Done!

Juniors Trip to Eyam Museum and Village on 25th April 2019

The Juniors were lucky enough to visit the Museum, village and church at Eyam , Derbyshire, as part of their topic for the Spring Term of 'the Great Plague'.

The children took a step back in time in the atmospheric setting of Eyam, known to visitors and residents alike as the 'Plague Village'.

They were fascinated by the incredible story of its unselfish villagers, who sealed themselves off from the outside world in the 17th century to prevent the deadly disease from spreading to neighbouring communities. The Plague was brought to the White Peak village in a bolt of infected cloth from London in 1665,

WLSP Orienteering Event 24th April 2019

The Junior children represented the school in the WLSP Orienteering Event at Tarleton Academy on Wednesday 24th April, they all did incredibly well and were a credit to the school, Well Done!

What is Growth Mindset?

The term 'growth mindset' refers to a way of thinking, learning and taking on challenges. A person with a growth mindset is open to constructive criticism, takes feedback and uses it, takes on new challenges, pushes themselves outside of their comfort zone and shows resilience and perseverance.

Studies show that it is people with a growth mindset (as opposed to a fixed mindset) who achieve in life, are successful in all they do and are happy. Of course, this is what we want for all of our children.

Growth Mindset at Lathom Park CE Primary School

This year we are introducing to the concept of growth mindset and pupils will be participating in a range of activities to learn more about it and try to display a growth mindset in school and at home. Pupils are taught how their brains work and how new connections are formed when we try new things and practice them, over and over. We have had PSHE lessons, assemblies, yoga, praise assembly, go noodle and school values which promotes mindset.

Collaboration - link

As part of the collaboration with Haskayne CE Primary School we have found it beneficial to share resources.

Staff from both schools regularly take part in joint training sessions. We now have new Bug Club reading books in KS1 and KS2 and by sharing these resources with Haskayne, we have been able to purchase a wider selection.
